Mike O'Donnell

Grew up… a bit too fast for his own liking. After his high school girlfriend got pregnant back in 1989, Mike O’Donnell took responsibility, married her and settled down. 

Living… a life that he never wanted for himself. Mike, now 37, thinks that life has passed him by. He’s unsatisfied with his suburban, middle-class life. He dreams of reliving his teenage years so he can become the basketball star he always wanted to be. “Look, try to see things from my point of view,” he tells his wife Scarlet. “I’m extremely disappointed with my life!”

Profession… bland, white-collar office work. Mike, who lacks a college degree, is often passed over for important promotions, leaving him even less satisfied with his life. 

Relationship Status… in the middle of a divorce from his wife of 20 years. Midway through the separation, Mike realizes that he’s made a huge mistake in leaving the lovely and beautiful Scarlet. Luckily for Mike, he’s been given a second chance at winning back his wife when he is, by a freak accident, transformed into his 17-year-old self. 

Challenge… using his knowledge as a middle-aged man while he magically inhabits his 17-year-old body. Mike has learned a few lessons over the years, and now is his chance to fix the mistakes he made. As he tells his daughter, “When you’re young, everything feels like the end of the world. But it’s not; it’s just the beginning.”

Personality… wise beyond his years, at least now that he’s re-inhabiting the body of a 17-year-old. The young-looking Mike has (half) a lifetime of experience under his belt, and he wants to use it in order to influence his wife and children to do the right thing.
