Profession… businessman running part of the Gucci empire. Before that, Maurizio was studying to be a lawyer.
Interests… reading and spending afternoon leisurely reading the newspaper under the sun—a habit that becomes the stage to an unspeakable tragedy.
Relationship Status… married to Patrizia Reggiani. They are madly in love in the beginning. But Maurizio is now having an affair with his childhood friend, Paola Franchi.
Challenge… maintaining the Gucci empire and edging out his other family members to control the family business. While Maurizio is initially hesitant to cut his living family members from the empire, he decides to stage a coup and oust his uncle and cousin to take over Gucci. Maurizio explains his motivation: “Gucci is like cake. Once you think there’s enough to go around, then you’ll have a taste and want more. And then you’ll want the whole thing for yourself.”
Personality… charming, quiet, and studious. In contrast to Patrizia's outgoing and fiery nature, Maurizio is more reserved. But underneath the veneer of gentility, Maurizio also hides an ambitious nature. While he needed Patrizia's not-so-subtle nudges to push out other Gucci family members from the business, Maurizio takes to solo control of the company like fish-to-water.
