Grew Up… with a controlling mother who wanted to make Martha’s decisions for her. Now that Martha is an adult, their relationship hasn’t changed much.
Living… in Boston. Martha lives with her partner Sean in a quaint apartment with a nursery for a baby they were expecting. Unfortunately, the crib is empty. Martha and Sean lost their child during a home birth, and they’re devasted.
Profession… on leave. Martha works in a corner office, but she took maternity leave and hasn’t been back yet.
Interests… growing plants. There are potted plants all around Martha’s apartment, but they take the back burner as she struggles to process her grief. However, after smelling an apple that reminds her of her lost child, she’s inspired to learn how to sprout apple seeds.
Relationship Status… married to Sean. Martha loves Sean, but their marriage is being put to the test with the devastating loss of their child. And if that weren’t enough, Martha’s mother is set on undermining her marriage at every turn and putting no effort into masking her disapproval of Sean. Will their bond be strong enough to get through their shared grief and the people who are trying to get in between them?
Challenge… trying to move on. Martha’s mother convinced her to press charges against the midwife who was responsible, and lawyers think it’s an easy case to win millions. But with the trial coming up, Martha isn’t sure that this is the best way for her to overcome her grief. After all, winning the court case will never bring her daughter back.
Personality… resilient. There is a quiet strength about Martha. As her husband turns to old habits and tension fills their home, she takes every punch life throws at her in stride. Martha also knows what she wants and isn’t about to let her family’s wishes override her own.
