Overview... a depressed young woman who goes to cancer support groups to feel better about herself. She soon finds another “imposter” at these meetings, and she agrees to stay away from him, but can’t avoid him for very long. That’s because Tyler Durden, a nihilist with plans for a new world order, enters both of their lives and changes their trajectories forever.
Personality… strong-willed, careless and suicidal. Marla is “the little scratch on the roof of your mouth that would heal if only you could stop tonguing it.” Marla steals clothes from a laundromat just to turn around and sell them at a thrift shop. She runs out into oncoming traffic and doesn’t think twice. She doesn’t care what other people think, but in her case that’s more a liability than a strength.
