Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up… all over the world. Marion is the daughter of Professor Abel Ravenwood, an archaeologist who made it his life’s mission to track down the Ark of the Covenant. His daughter accompanied him in his travels, and spent time in Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Europe, and Nepal.

Living… in Nepal. Marion never meant to settle there, but when her father was killed in an avalanche, she was left with no money and no place to go.

Profession… bartender and proprietor of the Nepalese watering hole, “The Raven.” The bar was originally purchased by Marion’s father, who tasked her with running it and funneling the profits into his archaeological work. After his death, The Raven is all Marion has left of her father.

Interests… drinking, mostly. There isn’t much else to do in Nepal and Marion’s a natural with the bottle, more than capable of drinking most men under the table.

Relationship status… single. Marion’s great romance was with her father’s friend and student, Indiana Jones. Together they all toured the world in search of the elusive Ark. However, ten years ago Indiana abruptly left Marion, breaking her heart and leaving her with a grudge she still carries to this day. He’s recently come back into her life – although only to buy one of her father’s old artifacts. The two bicker and fight constantly, but share an undeniable and potent attraction.

Challenge… helping Indiana Jones track down the Ark of the Covenant and complete her father’s life’s work. It wasn’t what she expected to be doing, but after Indiana accidentally brought Nazis to The Raven and they burned the bar down, she doesn’t have a lot of other options. If Indiana’s going to rob her of her livelihood, the least he can do is allow her to be his partner.

Personality… tough, independent, and street savvy. Marion is a proud woman who doesn’t like to show her emotions, instead adopting an attitude of hardened cynicism. While she doesn’t like to admit it, she does have a tender side and was deeply hurt when Indy abandoned her over a decade ago. Equally at home in a bar, ballroom, or brawl, Marion is one of the only people who could act as a partner to the intrepid Indiana Jones.
