Maria Rambeau

Living... in Louisiana in 1995.

Profession... former U.S. Air Force pilot. As one of the few women in a male-dominated world, Maria had to fight twice as hard for her career. She did so alongside her best friend and fellow pilot Carol Danvers. Though the Air Force didn’t allow women to fly combat missions, the two often worked on test flights with Dr. Wendy Lawson.

Interests... flying planes, singing karaoke, and watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with her daughter.

Relationship Status... single. Maria’s most important relationship is with her daughter Monica. Monica is everything you could want in a kid—smart, funny, brave, mature, and loving. Monica’s optimistic spirit brings out the best in Maria. The two tackle life as an unbreakable team.

Challenge... helping Carol remember who she is. Maria was told her best friend was killed in a plane crash six years ago. So things get pretty weird when Carol shows up on the Rambeaus’ doorstep with no memory of her life on Earth. Carol claims her name is Vers and she’s a Kree space alien caught up in an intergalactic war. Maria and Monica have to work together to try to jog Carol’s memory and get to the bottom of what’s going on with the woman they once considered an honorary part of their family.

Personality... both loving and formidable. Maria is a brave, battle-ready pilot who won’t suffer fools. She knows how to give as good as she gets. As she once retorted, “Call me young lady again, and I’m gonna put my foot in a place it’s not supposed to be.” Yet Maria’s also a deeply loving friend and mother. She’s the kind of empathetic, fiercely loyal ally who will lift you up when you’re struggling to find your way. Carol and Maria live by the motto “higher, further, faster,” and that represents Maria’s bold approach to life.
