Marcus Fenix

Grew up… with his parents Dr. Elain Fenix and Major Adam Fenix in the nation of Tyrus on the planet Sera. He attended Olafson Intermediate School where he met and made friends with Carlos and Dominique Santiago.

Living… on borrowed time. When he was a young soldier, Marcus witnessed Emergence Day, the apocalyptic start to a war between an underground society of insect-like soldiers –called the Locust Horde – and humanity. In the years of constant battle Marcus has sidestepped death more times than he can count. Although as the Locust Horde begins to encircle the last strongholds of humanity, it’s becoming clear that a fate deferred is quite different from a fate denied.

Profession… sergeant in the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) army. At least, he was. Marcus wanted to be just like his father, who also served in the COG army. He fought during the Pendulum Wars between the COG and the Union of Independent Republics on Sera, for which he was awarded the prestigious Embry Star. However, after leaving his post to search for his missing father, Marcus was sentenced to 40 years in Jacinto Maximum Security Prison for his desertion.

Interests… survival. A born warrior, Marcus lives for the battlefield and loves sawing Locusts in half with his trademark chainsaw bayonet on his Mark 2 Lancer Assault Rifle.

Relationship Status… rocky. Marcus had a relationship before he went to prison with a fellow COG soldier, Anya Stroud, but they kept it a secret. They tried to keep in touch while he was in prison, but he hasn’t been very good about sharing his emotions with Anya, which frustrates her. She wants to be with him, but he doesn’t want to hurt her or lose her.

Challenge… stopping the invasion of the Locust Horde and saving the human race. After his friend Dom breaks him out of prison, Marcus is assigned to lead a special squad in the fight for humanity against these violent creatures. Driven by a need to prove himself as a war hero, and expiate his desertion from his war record, Marcus is going to find a way to repel the Locust Horde – even if that means killing them one by one.

Personality… aggressive, stoic, and fearless. Marcus is a gruff and hardened professional who keeps his emotions buried deep. A lifetime of witnessing the incredible devastation heralded by the Locust Horde has left Marcus with horrible nightmares – but he never shows his fear in his waking hours. His proclivity for violence and his inability to display emotion might make him seem heartless, but deep down he’s not such a bad guy. He cares for his brothers in arms, and would gladly sacrifice his life to save a fellow soldier. Marcus might not make a great dinner date, but on the battlefield, there’s no one better to have at your side.
