Grew Up… in utter poverty. Maggie, born and raised in Missouri, has always had to fight for herself. As she puts it, “I was born two pounds, one-and-a-half ounces. Daddy used to tell me I’d fight my way into this world, and I’d fight my way out.”
Living… in Los Angeles, where she trains at the Hit Pit, a grimy downtown gym. Maggie wants the legendary trainer Frankie Dunn to teach her how to fight. As she tells him, “I want a trainer. I don’t want charity, and I don’t want favors.”
Profession… rising star in the female boxing world. Maggie, it seems, has just as much talent as she has pure drive. Unlike her lazy family, Maggie wants to succeed and make a name for herself.
Interests… boxing, her only calling in life. Maggie is tired of washing dishes and waiting on tables. As she understands her boxing career, “If I was thinking straight, I’d go back home, find a used trailer, buy a deep fryer and some Oreos. Problem is, this is the only thing I ever felt good doing. If I’m too old for this, then I got nothing.”
Challenge… proving her family wrong and boxing her way to the championship. Maggie’s obese, white trash family have rejected her. They’ve shunned her ever since she became a boxer.
Personality… persistent, tough, and courageous. Maggie will never let anyone tell her that she can’t accomplish her dreams. With the help of her coach, Frank, Maggie is on her way to becoming one of the greatest boxers to ever live.
