Grew Up… with her mom in the human realm. Luz was always a fish out of water, her creativity and quirkiness getting in the way of most people wanting to be her friend. When her mom tries to send her away to “Think Inside the Box” camp, Luz gets steered off the road once paved and transported into a world she could only read about.
Living… on the Boiling Isles. In a world of flesh-eating fairies and tiny kings of the demon realm, being strange isn’t quite so strange. Luz was never great with friends either, but in the demon realm, the witches she meets accept her with open arms. That is, except for Amity Blight, the stuck up student who’s the evil Hecate to her good witch Luzura!
Profession… student at Hexside School of Magic and Demonics, and witchly apprentice to Eda the Owl Lady. She was taken in by the rogue witch who was first reluctant to teach her, and figures out glyph magic so she, a human, can do magic just like the witches on the Isle.
Interests… her favorite book series “The Good Witch Azura” and living out her own magical dreams, the human way. Luz is an overachiever and wants to learn all the magic Hexside has to offer, even if it’s against the rules.
Relationship Status… single. She’s a little too busy trying to help Eda’s curse to find a date, and certainly too distracted to notice the way the star student blushes when she’s near Luz.
Challenge… navigating a new life on the Boiling Isles and the strange people she meets. Adjusting to a new world has its ups and downs. There’s the mysterious identity of the leader of the Isles, school traditions that seem to be less about dancing and more about fighting ancient monsters. Not to mention her mentor has a terrible curse that originated in an untold past. Luz wanted her own storybook adventure, but she’s paying a big price for it. As she says, “This is crazy. If I die here, my mom's gonna kill me!”
Personality… upbeat, optimistic, and brave. Luz isn’t afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself and her friends. Luz was known as the “quirky” kid, something that got her shunned at her old school. Now, her uniqueness is the thing that makes her bold and another magical resident on the Boiling Isles.
