Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew up… an orphan and a thief. Locke has few memories of his life before the plague that struck his district of Camorr, but it doesn't bother him much. Locke considers Father Chains, the man who took him in, and his troupe of thieves as much family as his deceased parents.
Living… in Camorr, a crime-ridden, accursed pit of a city – in other words, home. Ruthless laws govern the city, lethal mages roam the dingy streets, and gang warfare ruled until Capa Barasavi took control of the underworld. But for a cocksure grifter like Locke, it's perfect for practicing his trade.
Profession… conman. As a member of the Gentleman Bastards, Locke is renowned for both his vast intelligence and his staggering stupidity, depending on one’s perspective. There's nothing Locke won't try, so long as there's money or danger involved. Or, as he puts it before a heist, "We’re only doing this because nobody else in Camorr is good enough to pull this off, and nobody else is dumb enough to get stuck doing it in the first place."
Interests… his own cleverness. Locke can talk books or dine with the best of Camorri society, but he'd rather be out on the streets, living life on the edge as he plans his next daring heist.
Relationship Status… single. There was a girl a few years back – Sabetha, a thief and one of the rare people who could give Locke a run for his money. But Locke doesn't like thinking about her or where she's disappeared to.
Challenge… pulling off his latest heist. Currently, his target is Don Lorenzo Salvara, and Locke is looking forward to fleecing the Don's deep, deep pockets. However, with malicious mages killing citizens and the Camorri underworld in an uproar, the city seems to have other plans for the Bastards...
Personality… cocky, clever, and deeply loyal. Locke is more than capable of acting the gentleman – he is, after all, a conman – but underneath any gentleman-like veneer is always the soul of a foul-mouthed, irreverent Bastard. For all his faults, though, Locke is deeply loyal to his friends, and may the gods help anyone who dares to hurt them.
