Living… in the Qing capital, waited on by many nurses in a house her family provides her. Lin Wan Er must live separated from the Lin household because she’s an illegitimate child, but her family visits her often and provides the best care possible for her mysterious health problems. Despite her weak constitution and status as an illegitimate child, Wan Er has grown up a kind and lovely daughter, almost too caring for her own good.
Profession… being a noblewoman. Though Wan Er is an illegitimate child of the eldest princess and Prime Minister Lin, her two powerful parents (mostly her father’s family) have made sure she is able to live comfortably with all the privileges her ranks should afford her.
Interests… few. It’s hard to develop interests when you’ve spent your whole life lying on a sickbed or trailed by overbearing nurses who might be spies of your princess mother.
Relationship Status… betrothed to Fan Xian. By some great stroke of luck, the dream guy Wan Er met in the temple is the same man her family has arranged for her to marry! And it turns out he is just as interesting and caring when she gets to know him more. Unfortunately, a series of misunderstandings where Fan Xian seemingly disrespected her many times when they were first engaged has set Wan Er’s family and friends against him.
Challenge… living happily with Fan Xian and her friends and family. Right now, the relationships between Fan Xian and her friends and family are a jumbled mess. Neither side is fond of the other, and it seems like it’s only a matter of time before her family and friends use force against Fan Xian. They know that Wan Er’s goodness is easily taken advantage of, no matter how much Wan Er tells them that Fan Xian is a good person.
Personality… kind, gentle, and principled. Despite being raised in isolation and with a weak constitution, Wan Er has grown up to be a kind and caring person. She loves her family dearly and appreciates how much they provided for her despite being an illegitimate daughter. She is a good daughter and so distresses her to see that her family doesn’t see the good in Fan Xian. As much as she values her brother’s and mother’s advice, Wan Er believes that Fan Xian is a good person and stands up for him against her family.
