Lexi Howard

Living… with an alcoholic mother, an absent dad, and her older sister Cassie.

Profession… high school student at East Highland School. Close to Rue in middle school, Lexi now struggles to connect with her unstable friend who is battling addiction.

Interests… writing and processing her dad's absence through creative endeavors.

Relationship Status… romantic tension with Fezco, Rue's drug dealer who has a heart-of-gold. Perhaps someone who's almost the complete opposite of Lexi, Fezco takes an unexpected sincere interest in Lexi and her art. He listens to her and makes Lexi feel heard. But with Fezco's dangerous occupation, it’s hard to see that things will turn out happily ever after.

Challenge… struggling with her feelings of always being a background character. Next to colorful characters like her more conventionally attractive sister, Cassie, and the always-confident Maddy, Lexi feels like her voice is never valued or listened to. Even Rue takes advantage of Lexi's unwillingness to speak up by getting Lexi to help fake a negative drug test.

Personality… caring, sensitive, and passive. When Fez asks her genuine questions, Lexi reflects on "how she never has the courage to say anything." A turning point soon for Lexi and those around her will come in the form of Lexi's secretive play. All the world's a stage, after all, and Lexi knows that better than anyone. As Lexi says, “A little exchange and I fall in love, a moment to myself and I’m on stage, but reality always finds a way of pulling me back.”
