Character Analysis

Overview... a city guy who has a liking for the great outdoors and other activities that he associates with true manhood. Lewis gets three of his friends to come out on a trip downriver into the dangerous rapids of the backcountry. The tough (and often inbred) country folk in these parts prove to be a problem for Lewis and his friends, as if the unforgiving rapids weren’t already enough for Lewis to handle.
Personality… macho and self-sufficient, but naïve and somewhat childish for his idealistic views of manhood. Lewis is a skilled bowman, believing that any good hunter needs to be adept with a bow. He has a gym-built body, which he takes perhaps too much pride in. His cockiness gets him and his friends in more trouble than they expected.

The Cahulawassee River valley in Northern Georgia is one of the last natural pristine areas of the state, which will soon change with the imminent building of a dam on the river, which in turn will flood much of the surrounding land. As such, four Atlanta city slickers—alpha male Lewis Medlock, generally even-keeled Ed Gentry, slightly condescending Bobby Trippe, and wide-eyed Drew Ballinger—decide to take a multi-day canoe trip on the river, which turns into a trip they'll never forget into the dangerous American back-country.
