Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew Up... in a world where Britain stopped the American Revolution and now controls a third of the planet. Lelouch was the 17th in line to the imperial Britannian throne until his mother was assassinated by others in the royal family, after which he fled to Japan as "a Britannian who hates Britannia." There, he grew up with his crippled sister, Nunnally, and close friend Suzaku Kururugi, until Britannia's conquest of Japan separated the two friends.
Living... in Area 11, once known as Japan. Under the false names Lelouch and Nunnally "Lamperouge," the royal siblings avoid court intrigue by pretending to be normal high school students at Ashford Academy.
Profession... high school student by day, masked destroyer of tyrannical empires by night. Or just whenever he can get time off. After a mysterious girl gives him Geass, "the power of a king," Lelouch now possess “the absolute power to command anyone to do anything." Donning the false name "Zero," Lelouch uses his Geass to pursue his oldest and deepest goal: destroying Britannia.
Interests... games of strategy, especially chess. Lelouch loves flaunting his superior intellect against opponents, especially if they happen to be Britannian nobility.
Relationship Status... single, although not from lack of admirers. Lelouch may or may not be interested, but leading a rebellion leaves little time for romance, and he's far more likely to take advantage of others' feelings than to actually reciprocate them.
Challenge... avenging his mother and creating "a world where Nunnally can live happily." In order to destroy the Britannian empire and create a world without war, however, Lelouch believes that a victor must first arise. But turning Japan's scrappy resistance into an army capable of taking down Britannia is a difficult task, one that will test the limits of both Lelouch's Geass and his intelligence.
Personality... egotistical, calculating, and occasionally melodramatic. Despite viewing most people as enemies or pawns, Lelouch does have a soft spot for his sister, and his charisma and intelligence make him a frighteningly competent leader. And for someone who values others’ lives very little, Lelouch can be surprisingly idealistic, steadfastly believing that he can use his powers to create a new, better world.
