Overview… a lawyer who has recently broken up with her boyfriend. Laura did so not because she doesn’t love him, but because, despite that, they can’t seem to get along. Laura has started growing up – dying her hair blonde rather than pink, getting a job where she has to wear business clothes – and Rob still seems like he’s stuck in the same place he’s always been. His life is all leather jackets and vinyl records, even though that doesn’t seem to make him happy.
Personality… mature, self-aware, and sincere. Laura is the type of person who treats people with decency and fairness, even if they haven’t done the same for her. Still, she knows what she wants and what she deserves, and she’s not the type to stay in a situation just because it’s comfortable.

When record store owner Rob Gordon gets dumped by his girlfriend, Laura, because he hasn't changed since they met, he revisits his top five breakups of all time in an attempt to figure out what went wrong. As Rob seeks out his former lovers to find out why they left, he keeps up his efforts to win Laura back.

Rob is a pop music junkie who runs his own semi-failing record store. His girlfriend, Laura, has just left him for the guy upstairs, and Rob is both miserable and relieved. After all, could he have spent his life with someone who has a bad record collection? Rob seeks refuge in the company of the offbeat clerks at his store, who endlessly review their top five films; top five Elvis Costello songs; top five episodes of Cheers. Rob tries dating a singer, but maybe it's just that he's always wanted to sleep with someone who has a record contract. Then he sees Laura again. And Rob begins to think that life with kids, marriage, barbecues, and soft rock CDs might not be so bad.

Cleopatra, the famed Egyptian Queen born in 69 B.C., is shown to have been brought by Roman ruler Julius Caesar at age 18. Caesar becomes sexually obsessed by the 18 year old queen, beds her, and eventually has a son by her. However, his Roman followers and his wife are not pleased by the union. In fact, as Caesar has only a daughter by his wife, he had picked Octavian as his successor.
