Landon Carter

Living... in Beaufort, N.C. His dad’s family made a lot of money from bootlegging, so they live in a nice home in the wealthy part of town. But Landon doesn’t see his father much; he is a Congressman who spends most of his time in Washington.

Profession... high school student. Landon is one of the most popular guys at school, the kind of guy who everyone wants to be. And even though he cuts about half of his classes, he still has a B average.

Interests... fishing Pamlico Sound or crabbing the Neuse River. He likes being outside because he says the air in his town always smells of pine and sea. 

Relationship Status... dating Jamie, the daughter of a minister. He never noticed her before; she is so quiet and studious. But he’s glad he opened his eyes to her. He has never been in love before, and now he knows what he has been missing out on. As he says, "I find myself holding Jamie close to me with my eyes closed, wondering if anything in my life had ever been this perfect, and knowing at the same time that it hadn't."

Challenge... that Jamie is acting differently since he told her he loved her. She's full of tears – definitely not the reaction he expected. When he tries to get her to open up about what she is feeling, she says she can't explain. And her father doesn’t want Landon anywhere near her.

Personality... outgoing, good-looking, and fun. But he realizes his life didn’t have much meaning until he met Jamie.
