Korra

Grew Up… in the Southern Water Tribe, in the icy South Pole. Korra showed immense talent for the art of “bending,” or shaping elements to your will. In fact, at the tender age of 4, she could bend three of the four elements. This revealed that she was the Avatar, the only person capable of bending all four elements. She spent much of her childhood training in the bending arts.

Living… in Republic City, far from her home. Fed up with the protectiveness of her parents and teacher, she stowed away on a ship headed for the massive metropolis. She doesn’t know exactly what she’ll find, but it’s bound to be better than the South Pole!

Profession…  Avatar. This means that she has a lot of responsibilities – keeping peace on earth, saving the world, keeping the spiritual world and the physical world connected, etc. Frankly, it’s a lot. Fortunately, Korra just has to master the bending of air, and she’ll have all four elements under her belt. Unfortunately, she doesn’t get along with Tenzin, her airbending teacher.

Interests… hanging out with her new friends, brothers Mako and Bolin. They’re showing her the city, and they’ve introduced her to a new sport: pro-bending.

Relationship Status… single, for now.

Challenge… mastering airbending. The other three elements came so easily to her that she’s getting frustrated at how difficult airbending is proving, and she’s not very good at focusing on her studies. Not to mention that there’s unrest in the city, and as the Avatar, it’s her job to keep the peace – even if she doesn’t know how yet.

Personality… headstrong and bold, yet caring. Korra is very strong and has a tendency to rely on force (whether physical force or force of will) to solve her problems, which doesn’t always work out. She can be stubborn, but it’s because she is independent and prefers to make her own decisions. When it comes down to it, though, she always strives to use her gifts to help others.
