Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up... as an art student at a middle-class family. Ki-Jung's family was much better off in her childhood when her father owned a cake shop.

Living… in a musty semi-basement in the slums of Seoul, South Korea. The musty smell follows Ki-Jung wherever she visits, revealing her poverty. As she cynically comments, "It's the basement smell. The smell won't go away unless we leave this place."

Profession… art tutor. A short but impactful conversation with Yeon-Kyo (Mrs. Park) was all it took for Ki-Jung to secure the art tutor job for the Park family's young son. In truth, Ki-Jung never received any college art education, but she now claims to be a graduate of the University of Illinois and a specialist in children's art therapy, working at a special pay rate.

Interests… smoking. It is the only way Ki-Jung relieves her stress from the reality.

Relationship Status… single without any signs of romance. In contrast to her brother Ki-Woo, Ki-Jung is too well-grounded to look for a potential love interest.

Challenge… finding a way out of family's misfortune. Her family members have joined her in working for the Park family. Their credentials were just as questionable as hers were.

Personality… cool and cynical. Her charismatic personality makes her excellent at fooling the Parks. Of the Kim family members, she is the most talented scammer.
