Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up... in a small town in Georgia, the son of a pig farmer. Kenneth's optimism and hospitality always shine through, just as one might expect from a Southern country boy transplanted to the big city.

Living... in a bleak apartment in New York City, which is the best Kenneth can do on his meager salary. But he doesn’t spend much time there, stopping home mostly just to feed his bird. Sometimes it seems like Kenneth literally lives at work.

Profession... NBC page. Kenneth basically functions as a go-fer for the staff of the sketch-comedy show TGS with Tracy Jordan. Heruns errands, solves problems, and does the dirty work others don't want to do, especially for the always needy Tracy Jordan. As menial as his work can be, Kenneth never complains because he’s so happy to be involved in the thing he loves most – television.

Interests... God and TV. Kenneth is very religious, subscribing to a fundamentalist sect called Eighth Day Resurrected Covenant of the Holy Trinity. He says his favorite subject in school was science, “especially the Old Testament.” When not saving souls, though, Kenneth devotes his time on Earth to seeing NBC and TGS succeed. He enjoys helping the people he works with regardless of how insignificant the task may seem and just wants everyone to be happy.

Relationship Status... who knows? Kenneth comes off as relatively asexual, either having little understanding of romantic relationships or simply having no interest in them. No, television is his mistress.

Challenge... not cracking from being under-paid and over-worked. His optimism seems unshakable no matter how much abuse is heaped on him: "My mother always told me that even when things seem bad, there's someone else who's having a worse day." Yet sometimes, one worries that if Kenneth doesn’t vent every now and then, the potential explosion from his pent-up emotions will be epic. Jack Donaghy, his boss and the head of NBC, once predicted Kenneth will eventually either take over the network – or murder the entire staff.

Personality... sunny, cheerful, and happy-go-lucky, but perhaps a ticking time bomb. Kenneth might be the most enigmatic person at NBC. Is he truly what he seems, a perky rube who lives to help his fellow man and loves television more than anything? Or is he an immortal member of the undead disguised as a harmless page in a blue blazer? Your guess is as good as ours.
