Grew Up... as the most recent generation of a family of shrine keepers. Kagome isn't a huge fan of her family’s line of work, but she manages to live a mostly mundane life as “just your average school kid."
Living... in present-day Tokyo, with her large and quirky family. While Kagome wishes her younger brother would be more mature and her grandfather would stop giving her strange artifacts as presents, in general, she's happy with her life. Until, that is, fate decides to intervene.
Visiting... feudal Japan. After being dragged down an old well on her family’s shrine by a “disgusting” centipede demon, Kagome ends up hundreds of years in the past, in a world where violence is common and demons roam the land. Kagome's not exactly thrilled, but she soon learns that her fate is strongly tied to the past.
Profession... student and reincarnated high priestess. After falling into ancient Japan, Kagome soon learns that she is the reincarnation of Kikyo, a high priestess who protected the sacred Jewel of Four Souls. A mystic relic that greatly increase the powers of demons, it's constantly sought by those who would use it for selfish forces – including Kagome's current traveling companion, half-demon Inuyasha.
Interests... all the normal things a 15-year-old girl likes. Cute animals, cute boys, making friends, not being killed by powerful ancient demons...
Relationship Status... single, but not unwilling to change that. However, the only eligible guy around is Inuyasha, and while Kagome loves his cute doggy ears and thinks he's “supposed to be the hero," it's going to take a lot of work to find a heart of gold behind Inuyasha's wall of jerkdom.
Challenge... protecting the Jewel and dealing with Inuyasha. Reining in her half-demon companion is made significantly easier by a magical dog collar, but protecting the sacred jewel becomes an epic challenge when Kagome accidently splits it into shards that scattered all over Japan. Now, Kagome's on a quest to collect the fragments before they can fall into the wrong hands.
Personality... kind, friendly, and occasionally self-pitying. But she is also strong-willed and able to stand up for herself when trouble arises. And when dealing with a half-demon partner and a world full of violence, Kagome has plenty of chances for her true courage to shine through.
