Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up... with a drug-addicted mother. From a young age, she served as a caretaker to her mother who often returned to Judy under the influence of some kind. This took a toll on Judy, but with lots of therapy, she is trying to work through it.

Living... in Laguna Beach with her new best friend, Jen Harding. Jen took Judy into her guest house after they connected at a grief support group. Although she had a different story at the first support group meeting, Judy is grieving her five miscarriages and being dumped by her fiancé.

Profession... painting instructor at an assisted living facility. She loves her job and has become close to some of the seniors there.

Interests... heavy metal music and cooking for friends. Judy also loves wine—almost as much as Jen does. She and Jen have been through countless bottles together.

Relationship status... single. Judy used to be engaged to Steve Wood, but they broke up after years of infertility struggles finally took their toll.

Challenge... holding on to a secret that she debates what to do with. As Judy says, “My secret is crippling, and I think it's taking a toll on my health. And it's probably the reason why my womb is prematurely aging.” Judy’s secret could completely ruin her life, so it’s not hard to see why her anxiety is off the charts.

Personality... quirky, funny, and mysterious. Judy offers a hug to people who she believes could use one, but not everyone accepts them with open arms. She is a sensitive soul, often found apologizing even if the situation doesn’t call for it. With her friends, she tries her best to get them to crack a smile. Although Judy can be the life of the party, there’s another side to her that is darker and much more complicated.
