Jonathan Mardukas

Overview... a man on the lam. You wouldn’t know it to look at him, but mild-mannered accountant Jonathan “The Duke” Mardukas is very much a wanted man after embezzling $15 million from mob boss Jimmy Serrano and then skipping bail. Now, ornery bounty hunter Jack Walsh is trying to bring The Duke cross-country to collect Jack’s reward, provided Serrano’s goons don’t kill them both first – or The Duke’s penchant for providing unsolicited advice doesn’t drive Jack to kill himself.

Personality... charitable, smart, and well-intentioned, but his self-righteous streak can get him in trouble. Yes, The Duke stole money from Serrano, but that’s only because he discovered he was unwittingly laundering money for the mob. He then gave (most of) the millions to charity, meaning he – in the words of the more cynical Jack – “pissed off a mafioso killer just to be loved by a bunch of [bleeping] strangers.” The bleeps aside, that’s totally a Duke move.
