Living… in Winden, a small German town without his father. His life as a teenager was relatively normal until his father, Michael Kahnwald, committed suicide, which catalyzed Jonas’ depression. Seeking closure, Jonas researches his father's past, uncovering a mysterious web of mystery, drama, and danger.
Profession… student at the Winden Comprehensive School. However, Jonas is forced to deal with more responsibilities that are bleaker than his schoolwork. Thankfully, Jonas has his best friend, Bartosz Tiedemann, to support him.
Interests… all things related to time. As Jonas explores the history of Winden, a small town in Germany with a large nuclear power plant, he becomes absorbed by the purpose of events and if they can be changed. Jonas explores the possibilities of time—if events are simply recurrent cycles of the past. His interests lead him further down the rabbit hole of Winden’s many secrets.
Relationship Status… single. Jonas has a crush on Martha Nielsen, who is the daughter of Ulrich and Katharina Nielsen. Jonas and Martha are close friends. Their families are acquainted with each other, which causes the two to spend a lot of time together. Jonas eventually develops feelings for Martha and seeks to be more than just friends.
Challenge… unraveling his father’s suicide and protecting his loved ones. Jonas’ investigation of his father’s death is forcing Jonas to overcome many challenges. From surviving an apocalypse to defeating evil cults, even the most outrageous events soon become reality for Jonas. With family and friends on his side, Jonas’ limits will be tested by everything Dark has to offer.
Personality… introspective and curious. Jonas spends much of the series searching for information about his life and the world around him. Much of his past trauma fuels his propensity for discovery. Jonas is rather introverted, as his depression, anxiety, and seriousness make him hard to befriend. His friends, though few in number, are extremely close to him. Jonas relies on them during the series to aid him in his quests.
