Grew Up… Joliet, Illinois, in the early 20th century.

Living… in the harsh world of the Great Depression. Johnny makes ends meet by conning, and he is one of the best con man there is. However, when his mentor Luther is killed by the evil crime boss Doyle Lonnegan, he seeks out the help of the great con artist Henry Gondorff to con Lonnegan. Although there's some initial tension between Henry and Johnny, the two work together pretty well.

Profession… con-artist, grifter, and sweet talker. Although Johnny is only used to small-time operations, when he meets Henry the two of them organize a con called "the wire" that's incredibly elaborate. The con is multi-layered and needs to be executed flawlessly in order to work.

Relationship Status… involved. Johnny slept with a mysterious, free-spirited waitress at restaurant near where Johnny and Henry meet. She has a few secrets that could change everything for Johnny.

Challenge… evading the FBI. And can he pull off his part in this elaborate sting operation without getting recognized by Lonnegan?

Personality… cool under pressure and a very convincing actor. It’s tough to tell what’s a genuine Johnny reaction, and what’s just part of his act.
