Overview… a battle-hardened soldier who makes an unlikely friend. John Tyree’s world changes when he meets and falls in love with Savannah Curtis during leave. After two blissful weeks together, John returns to the Army, hoping to continue the relationship when he finishes his service. But first, he has to focus on staying alive.
Personality... reticent and awkward. John has survived heavy gunfire, aggressive enemy soldiers, and rigorous training. But all that is nothing compared to the challenge of asking out a beautiful girl.

Sergeant John Tyree is home on a 2 week leave from Germany. He meets Savannah after he dives into the ocean to retrieve Savannah's purse that had fallen off the pier. John falls in love with Savannah who is a student on spring break helping build a house for Habitat for Humanity. A romance occurs and Savannah falls deeply in love with John. She promises to write John overseas until he returns.
