Overview… a struggling poet (for now, anyway). John Keats has yet to find critical success as a writer. His latest book, Endymion, was widely lambasted. Undeterred, Keats toils away, striving for professional success while coping with a troubled personal life.
Personality... charming and witty, but aloof. John Keats lights up at parties, but withdraws when it comes to personal relationships. He is a tough one to get close to, but it rarely stops others from trying.

In 1818, high-spirited young Fanny Brawne finds herself increasingly intrigued by the handsome but aloof poet John Keats, who lives next door to her family friends the Dilkes. After reading a book of his poetry, she finds herself even more drawn to the taciturn Keats. Although he agrees to teach her about poetry, Keats cannot act on his reciprocated feelings for Fanny, since as a struggling poet he has no money to support a wife.
