Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up… in a dysfunctional family. As he said, “I was raised on a farm in Mooresville, Indiana. My ma died when I was three. My daddy beat the hell out of me because he didn't know no better way to raise me. I used to do dumb things, but I'm a lot smarter now.”

Living… on the run in the 1930s. John Dillinger moves from hotel room to safe house across the country, committing the most daring bank robberies along the way.

Profession… living legend. Dillinger is public enemy number one, famous for holding up banks in a flamboyant and bold manner. An excellent escape artist, John has no problem getting himself out the traps police set for him. Keeping a high profile is part of his repertoire, so John makes sure to be outrageous enough to stay in the public eye.

Interests… “baseball, movies, good clothes, fast cars.”

Relationship Status… too busy to be tied down. But that all changes when John meets a charming coat check girl in Chicago named Frechette. Smitten, he tries to convince her to join his wild life on the run.

Challenge… J. Edgar Hoover. In the past, John had outgunned and outsmarted every police force he encountered. But when Hoover forms the FBI in an attempt to restore public order, Dillinger must confront new agents who are willing to turn his own brazen tactics against him. One agent in particular, Purvis, is determined to bring down Dillinger.

Personality… cool and confident. He’s a rebel through and through. Despite keeping company with hardened criminals, John is polite and witty, except when interacting with law officers who try to slow him down.
