Living... a cushy life as the heir to the Iron Throne. Joffrey is the oldest son of King Robert Baratheon and Queen Cersei Lannister. At least that’s what he’s been told. But while he doesn’t look much like Robert, he bears a striking resemblance to the Queen’s brother, his Uncle Jaime…
Profession... spoiled kid biding his time until he’s King. But he’s not waiting to sit in the Iron Throne before making everyone’s life around him a living hell. He even orders that his bride-to-be’s pet direwolf be killed just because the actual direwolf he wants to punish has run away.
Interests… abusing power, acting privileged, making battle plans, racking up enemies, and putting on a snide smile that makes everyone in the Seven Kingdoms want to punch him in his pale, royal face.
Relationship Status... engaged to Sansa Stark. Unfortunately for Joffrey, Sansa is the daughter of the one man – Hand of the King Eddard Stark – who may have discovered the secret of Joffrey’s true lineage. Sansa is loyal to Joffrey but he doesn’t make it easy, saying things like when she’s old enough, he wants to “put a son in you.”
Challenge... rising to the throne before word gets out that he is not a true heir to King Robert Baratheon and/or keeping it if it does. Also, everyone hates him for being a terrible little sadistic brat, which can be challenging. Less so because he’s about to be King, which comes with the power to behead whomever he wants, but still challenging.
Personality... cruel and arrogant, qualities that may stem in part from overcompensating for a deep cowardliness. Joffrey is despised by most around him, though they’d be afraid to say it publicly given who he is. But when you’re raised away from the common people by a mother who tells you things like, “everyone who isn’t us is an enemy,” it’s tough to grow up a cool, down to Earth guy. Maybe he’ll grow out of his petulance and meanness, but nobody’s too optimistic.
