Joan Berkman

Overview... a proud mother undergoing a life-changing divorce. Joan must balance her time between raising her two sons – when they’re not staying with their father Bernard – and her growing career as a professional author. As if she didn’t already have enough on her hands, she is now facing a complex war of attrition waged by Bernard over winning the loyalty and respect of their two sons, Walt and Frank.

Personality… witty, subtly combative, and psychoanalytical. Joan is an intellectual, but not nearly as stuck up about it as Bernard. But that doesn’t mean she is above listing Bernard’s flaws to their children. Joan is no saint, but she is trying extremely hard to help the children grow up into only mildly damaged individuals.
