Character Analysis

Grew Up… on her own. Jinx was orphaned along with her siblings, and they stayed alive by burglarizing houses in the Upper City. The wealth of the Upper City, compared to the desolate conditions of the Under City, has influenced Jinx’s hatred of Piltover and its residents. In her childhood, Jinx was viewed as a liability amongst her siblings. She was the youngest and did not have a polished skill set that contributed meaningfully to their survival. This led her to constantly seek validation from her siblings and put all of her efforts into proving her worth.
Living… in the Under City. Jinx is from the Under City of Zaun which is the twin city of Piltover, the Upper City.
Profession… special agent. After a factory explosion killed the de facto leader of the Under City, a new dictator rose to power. The dictator took pity on Jinx since she was an orphan and took her in. They have a father-daughter relationship as well as a working relationship because Jinx is in his regime and frequently goes on missions and heists for him.
Interests… building explosives and other weapons. Since she was a young girl, Jinx has been tinkering and crafting make-shift explosives. She struggled for many years with creating fully functional devices, but her work pays off in her adulthood and her engineering prowess makes her an asset to the leadership of the Under City.
Relationship Status… single. Jinx does not have any romantic interests. Her time is consumed by her work under the leadership of Zaun.
Challenge… processing her childhood trauma. As a child, she went by the name of Powder and has since gone through the process of metaphorically killing Powder and adopting the name and persona of Jinx. As she says, ““It’s Jinx now. Powder fell down a well.” This was not a smooth process and her compartmentalization of the trauma she experienced as Powder has led to her experiencing episodes of delusion and auditory hallucinations. Her severe abandonment issues have begun to manifest in her adulthood, and she’s trying her best to work through those issues.
Personality… sensitive, smart, and determined. Jinx may look innocent, but she’s tougher than she seems. This allows her to surprise her targets who often underestimate her. As she says, “I’m a helpless little girl and I’ve set the building on fire. By accident. Totally by accident. Also, I brought this dynamite. Goodbye.” Make sure you don’t mess with Jinx.
