Overview… a talented student attending Cambridge to study poetry. Jane didn’t expect to fall in love with a brilliant but awkward physics student named Stephen Hawking, but she did. Unfortunately, only a short way into their relationship, Stephen gets bad news – he has ALS, and is predicted to die within two years. Despite that prognosis, Jane stays with him, caring for him as the disease progresses. But as those predicted two years turn into decades, Jane struggles to balance her own needs with Stephen’s.
Personality… compassionate, calm, and intelligent. When they first met, Jane wasn’t afraid to challenge Stephen’s ideas and even learn some physics, despite having a more artistic disposition. She is a religious person, which conflicts with Stephen’s dedicated atheism, and she finds some comfort singing in her church choir. She uses her faith, stubbornness, and empathy to do her best in a difficult situation.
