Overview... a seaman at heart. Jan works on an oil rig, far away from his new wife Bess, who awaits his return in her small town. Jan does not share Bess’s religious beliefs or innocent values. He is a man of the world and has seen and done many things.
Personality… free-spirited and rational. Jan doesn’t believe that Bess hears the words of God, as much as she swears that she does. During times of great struggle and hardship, Jan is stoic and accepts what his fate might be, while still hoping for the best.
