Grew Up… in New Jersey, fending for himself. As a result, self-reliance is a value he still holds dear.

Living… “in a great country, a country great enough to help a man financially when he’s in trouble.” Jim is living through the worst crisis to ever hit America— the Great Depression. Out of work and struggling to feed his family, he has had to rely on government handouts.

Profession… former light heavyweight contender. In the past, Jim was one of the best boxers in the country. But after injuring his hand, Jim works down at the docks, struggling daily to make ends meet.

Relationship Status… married to the love of his life, Mae Braddock. When his boxing career ends, Mae sees it as a blessing in disguise. Even though boxing was the only way they earned a learning, she hated seeing her husband in the ring.

Challenge… picking himself up by his bootstraps and take back the title he deserves. After unexpectedly winning a comeback fight, Jim has been presented with the opportunity of a lifetime. With the help of his coach, Joe Gould, Jim's determined to once again become a world-class fighter.

Personality… honorable, hardworking, and kind. While tough in the ring, Jim's still a normal family man who merely wants to provide a better life for his family. As he says, “I have to believe that when things are bad, I can change them.”
