Living… in a teeny, tiny apartment in New York City. Although he doesn’t have much, Jacob takes heart in the fact that at least he has his grandmother’s prized paczki recipe.
Profession… cannery worker at Moreton Dale Canning Factory. Even after serving in Europe during World War II, Jacob could only find this extremely menial job. But what keeps him going is his hope of receiving a loan and realizing his dream of opening up a bakery. With this dream in mind, Jacob brings a suitcase of baked goods to the bank in order to convince the loan officers. Little does he know that a suitcase mix-up with a man named Newt Scamander is going to upend his entire life.
Interests… baking. The light of his bleak life as a factory worker is the delicious and beautiful pastries he can bake. But after being suddenly pulled into the magical world by Newt, Jacob has become fascinated by this strange and fantastical world of things beyond his wildest imagination. In his words, “I don’t think I’m dreaming… I ain’t got the brains to make this up.”
Relationships… single. He was once engaged to a girl named Mildred, but that relationship ended abruptly when she left him. But things may be looking up for Jacob as he meets the witch Queenie, a woman who seems to almost be able to read his mind.
Challenge… surviving the magical world. With the magical law enforcement after him, a deathly force on the loose, and Newt’s magical creatures wreaking havoc in the city, Jacob is swept up in a whirlwind of danger. And unlike Newt, Jacob isn’t a wizard so he doesn’t have magic to save himself.
Personality… curious, accepting, and brave. It isn’t easy to be told magic exists and that there are tons of magical beings who might be trying to kill you, but Jacob is taking it rather well. In fact, this is the biggest adventure of his life!
