Character Analysis

Grew Up… in Wiskayok, New Jersey with her two parents. As a teen, she was one of the most popular girls at her high school, and was captain of the soccer team, the Yellowjackets. Her soccer coach told Jackie (rather bluntly) that she was made team captain not because she was the best player, but because of her "influence” over the team. Her high school romance was with Jeff Sadecki, a boy Jackie was convinced would be her first and only love.
Living… a mystery. Her present-day circumstances are unknown. But judging from the way Jackie's fellow teammates and friends talk about her, she didn’t keep in contact with any of the Yellowjackets.
Challenge… dealing with the effects of a traumatic event that occurred on the soccer team’s way to nationals. Jackie, unlike the other girls on the team, struggled to adapt quickly to demanding conditions. Her intentions were good, but she found it hard to manage a team in a high-stakes environment outside the soccer field. Instead of acting as an encouraging leader during that crisis, she sarcastically joked about how bad their situation was. She told her fellow teammates that they should celebrate “Doomcoming” instead of Homecoming. In her own words, “Tomorrow night we’ll drink rotten berries and celebrate our impending death.” Ironically, she didn’t realize how close that joke may be to the truth.
Personality… confident, social, and influential—at least that is how she used to be. But after her experience with the soccer team, she’s unrecognizable from her high school self.
