Jack Skellington

Living… in Halloween Town. The citizens are ghouls, goblins, and monsters whose whole world revolves around Halloween, which is organized each year by Jack, the Pumpkin King.

Visiting… Christmas Town. While wandering through the forest, Jack stumbles upon a portal to this magical land. In Christmas Town, every tree is a Christmas tree and each house is shinier and more beautifully decorated than the last. Jack is shocked by how different Christmas Town is from Halloween Town. As he sings, “There's children throwing snowballs instead of throwing heads. They're busy building toys and absolutely no one's dead!”

Profession… the Pumpkin King, until he left for Christmas Town. Each year, Jack has organized the Halloween holiday, though he’s tired of the same old routine. Nevertheless, Jack prides himself on his ability to scare others: “With the slightest little effort of my ghost-like charms, I have seen grown men give out a shriek. With the wave of my hand, and a well-placed moan, I have swept the very bravest off their feet.”

Interests… kidnapping Santa Claus. In Christmas Town, Jack has found something new and exciting to occupy his time: taking over Christmas. When he arrives back in Halloween Town, Jack presents his findings to the citizens of Halloween Town, and plots to usurp Santa’s role.

Relationship Status… single. Sally, a ragdoll woman created by Halloween Town’s mad scientist, is his dearest friend, but he treats her terribly. He’d like nothing more than to be by her side and sit forever looking at the sky.

Challenge… finding meaning in a life that’s become dull. Jack has grown weary of the sound of screams and wants to do something different. As he puts it: “Oh somewhere deep inside of these bones an emptiness began to grow. There's something out there far from my home, a longing that I've never known. I want to stay in Christmas Town and be Sandy Claws for good.”

Personality… ghastly. Jack loves being “a master of fright and a demon of light,” but he’s been depressed lately and needs something other than the role of Pumpkin King to fulfill him.
