Jack Hall

Living… in a world facing the imminent threat of global warming. Jack has been traveling far from home, studying the effects of global warming on the environment.

Visiting… Antarctica. Jack is on a special expedition with his colleagues, looking for ice-core samples in order to learn more about the melting polar ice caps.

Profession… paleoclimatologist. Jack works on computer models that help predict global climate patterns. After stumbling on findings that lead him to believe the world is headed for a new ice age, he travels to a U.N. conference in New Delhi to warn them. Alas, his theories are quickly dismissed.

Relationship Status… married. His wife, Dr. Lucy Hall, lives and works in Manhattan. He and Lucy have a teen-aged son named Sam, who’s a pretty smart kid. Sam is headed to New York for an academic decathlon.

Challenge… finding his son, Sam, amidst the chaos of the impending ice age. As it turns out, Jack’s predictions were right: there are tornados in Los Angeles, mass flooding in New York, and much of the Northern Hemisphere is virtually destroyed. It’s the end of the world as they know it. Jack has to travel the frozen wasteland from Washington to New York to find his son in Manhattan – if he’s still alive, that is.

Personality… determined, brave, and intelligent. Jack is one of the brightest minds in his field, even though nobody seems to take his theories seriously until it’s too late. He loves his son and will do anything in his power to save him – even if it means traversing a dangerous blizzard wasteland to get to him.
