(Avoiding Spoilers)
Living… in inner-city East Compton. Isis doesn’t have much money, but she makes up for that with her drive and charisma.
Profession… high school student, where she is the captain of the East Compton Clovers. Isis and her teammates have been diligently working on their amazing dance routines for months and are positioned to place in the national cheer competition. That is, they were until they see a competing squad called Toros rehearsing a routine with their exact same choreography.
Challenge… dealing with cheating, discrimination, and no money. Isis knew it was always going to be an uphill battle for an all-Black cheerleading squad to win in a sport dominated by white judges and cheerleaders. But it’s that much more unfair when your best routines are ripped off by rich white girls. As she says to the Toros cheerleaders, "Every time we get some here, y'all come trying to steal it, putting this blond hair on it and calling it something different." Although Isis is angry, she’s trying her best to stay poised and defeat the Toros squad with their best weapon: their superior dance moves. But before they do that, they need to raise the money for their travel costs to attend nationals.
Personality… confident, poised, and ambitious. Isis doesn’t back down from a fight. And her teammates are right there to back her up. She is ready to win despite the odds, as she tells Toros: "You want to make it right? Then when you go to Nationals, bring it. Don't slack off because you feel sorry for us. That way when we beat you, we'll know it's because we're better."
