Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Overview… a society column editor for The Daily Telegraph in London. Iris has been strung along by the same unfaithful guy, Jasper, for years. When he gets engaged to the other woman, Iris finally takes a step back and reevaluates her life. She swaps homes with a Los Angeles woman named Amanda Woods so each can spend two weeks on vacation. (Or “on holiday,” as the Brits put it.) In California, Iris befriends an old screenwriter named Arthur, who helps her recapture her “gumption.”

Personality… smart, funny, and attractive, but self-deprecating. Too many years spent kowtowing to Jasper has drained her of her usually strong personality. But her time in Los Angeles spending time with Arthur and a sweet composer named Miles helps her to find her spark again. Though while Arthur is a father figure, maybe Miles can help fill Jasper’s place in her heart with someone who’s worthy of her.
