Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Living… in Hong Kong, just before the end of British rule.

Visiting… Los Angeles. When 11 year-old Soo-Yung is abducted her father, Consul Han, asks Lee, his most skilled and trusted ally, to come to the US and rescue her. However, Lee is greeted stateside by the brash and mouthy Detective James Carter, who seems more interested in giving him a sightseeing tour of LA than taking him to Han.

Profession… Detective Inspector for the Hong Kong Police Force. He’s a highly skilled and intuitive fighter, but the FBI sees him a foreign nuisance and tries to keep him away from Soo-Yung’s case.

Interests… singing. Much to Carter’s chagrin, Lee likes to belt our the the Beach Boys.

Relationship Status… single. Lee's too focused on getting Soo-Yung back to check out LA’s dating scene.

Challenge… saving Soo-Yung. Right now, Lee should be with Consul Han, getting the details on Soo-Yung’s rescue mission – but for some reason, his partner, Detective James Carter, isn’t letting him anywhere near the investigation. Looks like Lee will have to take matters into his own hands, then.

Personality… dutiful and focused. He wields a dry sense of humor but Inspector Lee doesn’t have time for shenanigans when Soo-Yung’s life is at stake. When Carter mouths off, Lee makes sure to call him out: “You seem as if you like to talk. I like to let people talk who like to talk. It makes it easier to find out how full of shit they are.”
