Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up... heir to the Mishima Zaibatsu. The massively powerful Mishima Zaibatsu multinational corporation was founded by Heihachi’s honorable father Jinpachi Mishima. However, 40 years ago Heihachi betrayed and imprisoned his father, seizing the company for himself.

Living... in Japan. Heihachi lives in Japan where his company is headquartered, but given his shady nature the Japanese government has denied him citizenship.

Profession... businessman. The Mishima Zaibatsu runs everything from finance to Tekken Force private military companies to factories to schools, and Heihachi oversees them all. He is also a master of Mishima Style Fighting Karate, which he shows off at his company’s regular King of Iron Fist martial arts tournaments.

Interests… expanding his power. No government is strong enough to curb the Mishima Zaibatsu’s control over the world, just rival companies like G Corp (which is eventually run by his estranged son, Kazuya). So Heihachi is constantly trying to increase his power, wipe out competitors, and tighten his grip on society.

Relationship Status... married. Heihachi is married to Kazumi, who gave birth to Kazuya, a child Heihachi would later throw down a volcano to test his toughness. Heihachi also has at least one illegitimate son, Swedish Tekken Force member Lars Alexandersson. Kazuya would then father Heihachi’s grandson, Jin Kazama. However, while much is known about Heihachi’s power struggles with his heirs, his relationship with his wife remains largely unexplored.

Challenge... maintaining control of his empire. Heihachi is physically powerful and strong-willed, but he is also an old man. So recently he has had trouble keeping up with his son and grandson vying for control of his company – especially considering they both have access to supernatural “Devil Gene” powers Heihachi does not possess.  But as Heihachi says, “I won’t die that easily, fools.”

Personality... ruthless. Some Mishimas, like Jin and his great-grandfather Jinpachi (Heihachi’s father), are nobler than others, like Kazuya. But Heihachi is the one who started the cycle of hatred with his lust for power and contempt for those in his way, even if they were family. He does care for his pet bear/bodyguard Kuma, though.
