Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Overview… a prince of Troy. Hector is a great warrior but a peaceful man who cherishes his wife and son. He mentors his younger brother, the brash, idealistic Paris. When Paris smuggles home Helen, wife of Menelaus, thus inviting Greece to visit their wrath upon Troy, Hector accepts absolutely his duty of leading the defense of his country.

Personality… humble and honorable, though achieving honor is beside the point. Unlike Paris, Hector sees nothing poetic or glorious about dying for a cause. His code is plain, simple, and unadorned: “Honor the gods, love your woman, and defend your country.” For Hector, virtue is its own reward.
