Character Analysis

Living… not the life she'd have wanted. Haruhi might be beautiful, smart, and athletic, but she's also bored out of her mind. And who could blame her? An ordinary high school in Japan is no place for a girl who only wants a more few aliens and time-travelers in her life.
Profession… high school student and leader of the SOS Brigade. After a conversation with classmate Kyon, Haruhi decides that since North High has no good clubs, she'll just have to start one of her own. Calling her new club the SOS (Spreading Excitement All Over the World with Haruhi Suzumiya) Brigade, Haruhi heads out to "loo[k] for the mysteries of the world," all the while unaware that the Brigade's members include an alien, a time-traveler, and an esper. (An “esper” possesses ESP and psychic powers.) All of them are following Haruhi, who – unknown to herself – happens to be near-omnipotent reality warper.
Interests… anything, as long as it's interesting. The first day of school, Haruhi joins every club in North High, and then promptly quits them for being too ordinary. However, with her loyal SOS members at her call, Haruhi has plenty of time to indulge all her eccentric whims.
Relationship Status… single. Haruhi's been approached by multiple guys, but she's simply not interested. It's not that she isn't intrigued by romance – it's just that she's not interested in boring people. As Haruhi tells Kyon, she would date, as long as the interested girl or boy was "anything like an alien or something else along those lines."
Challenge… avoiding boredom. At a young age, Haruhi was struck by the insignificance of ordinary life, and she's been determined to find something – or someone – extraordinary ever since. Too bad she doesn't know who she's surrounded by...
Personality… loud, energetic, and unrelentingly headstrong. Even if Haruhi wasn't a reality warper, she'd probably have no problem getting what she wants. With all the determination of a battering ram and none of the social skills, Haruhi can be an awesome force of nature – with just as few survivors. Still, she's been improving on the empathy front, so there's hope for her yet.
