Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up… a smart kid who graduated from the University of Chicago. Driving home from Chicago to New York, he carpools with one of his girlfriend’s friends, Sally. They don’t hit it off right away, possibly because Harry offends her by saying that men and women can’t be friends: "What I'm saying is — and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form — is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way."

Living… in New York City. Harry and Sally meet on and off again throughout the years.

Profession… political analyst.

Relationship Status… formerly married, but by the time Harry and Sally start becoming friends, he's divorced and more mature. He's the one that believes that the two can become friends, despite his early assertion than men and women can’t be just friends.

Challenge… navigating his friendship with Sally. After years of asserting otherwise, his best friend is now a woman. But the problem is, he’s starting to develop feelings of a non-platonic variety. Is he just proving himself wrong? Will he destroy their relationship if he tries to take it further?

Personality… carefree but sentimental. Although he's originally cynical in his outlook on relationships between men and women, he eventually shows himself to be a true romantic. He likes to talk, and can be opinionated, but he’s open to hearing others’ opinions.
