Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew Up… in a cave. When Hanna was a baby, she was rescued from a secret government program, UTrax, during which her mother was killed. Erik, the one who saved her, has been raising her in the Polish forest and training her in combat and survival skills.
Living… off the grid. Using what Erik taught her, Hanna is forced to navigate the world beyond the forest for the first time. While there’s no doubt that she’s a great fighter, her lack of experience with the real world makes it tricky to blend in.
Profession… survivor. Hanna is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as well as using weapons. Not only that, she knows multiple languages and is well-versed in history and pop culture. Combined, these skills help Hanna escape run-ins with CIA operatives who are after her.
Interests… learning about the world. It was Hanna’s curiosity about what was outside the forest that led her to disobey Erik and venture past the boundaries he set up. When she befriends Sophie, Hanna enthusiastically tries on sunglasses, eats Snickers bars, and has fun in a photo booth, all for the first time.
Relationship Status… single. Making a relationship work is hard when you’re on the run. But when Hanna is hiding out at Sophie’s house, someone catches her interest. Unfortunately, that “someone” is also Sophie’s crush.
Challenges… evading capture and finding out the truth. Hanna is proof of a covert program that was meant to remain off the records, so Marissa Weigler, the senior operative of UTrax, will do anything to stop her. However, Hanna has no idea why these agents are after her, just that they’re dangerous, and she is determined to get to the bottom of it. As Hanna says, “I can’t trust anyone.”
Personality… reserved, curious, and perceptive. Hanna has grown up in isolation and has no idea what it’s like to be a 15-year-old in modern Europe, but she’s a quick learner. Fortunately, Hanna doesn’t seem to mind too much that she’s a real fish out of water.
