Gus Grimly

Living… in Duluth, Minnesota, where Gus shares a small apartment with his young teenage daughter, Greta. He and Greta have a close relationship, often chatting with each other on walkie-talkies while he’s at work in his patrol car.

Profession… Duluth Police Deputy. Gus is a good guy, but he just doesn’t seem cut out for police work. He recently let a speeder off the hook because the guy threatened to kill his daughter if he didn’t let him go. Gus gave in immediately.

Relationship Status… single. Gus is a single parent, and hasn’t had much time to date. Being a single dad is hard, but he’s trying to do his best and teach her small bits of life advice when he can. However, he just met the charming Deputy Molly Solverson during a visit to a different police precinct, and he’s quite taken with her.

Challenge… helping Molly get to the bottom of the Bemidji murders. A recent string of deaths across northern Minnesota is putting the local police departments on edge. Unfortunately for Gus, the man he let off for speeding may be involved, and now he has to fess up to his failure.

Personality… meek, polite, and gentle. Easily submissive and quick to lose control of his nerves, Gus probably shouldn’t be doing police work. However, he makes up for his incompetence with his caring and nurturing side as a father to his young daughter. While it’d be tough to describe him as heroic, Gus has a very keen sense of what’s right in the world and tries his best to adhere to his values.
