Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Overview... a shape-shifting monster. Her child, Grendel, is a violent monster who slays many men in the great halls of ancient Denmark. Grendel’s mother is more methodical and meticulous, and when the hero Beowulf comes after her, she knows the right way to portray herself to get his attention.

Personality… vengeful, deceptive, and monstrous. While confronting Beowulf, she uses her arts of persuasion to convince him to betray his fellow man. She is loyal to her son, Grendel, and seeks to act in his name, as well as for her own well-being. She thinks very little of men and their desires.
