Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew up… as a bit of a nerd. George never fit in. He was teased by his brothers for being a kind, polite, and obedient child. His interest in Dungeons and Dragons didn’t help his social life very much, either. As he put it, “High school sucks for anyone who’s the least bit different.”

Living… on the edge as a surgical intern. George is finding life in the hospital to be a bit more stressful than he expected. He’s earned the nickname “007” because of his tendency to let patients die. George’s “license to kill” isn’t helping his budding surgical career.

Profession… surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital. George has always been adept at math and science, but there’s a big difference between the classroom and cutting open actual patients.

Relationship Status… single, though George is interested in his fellow intern Meredith Grey. Unfortunately, George will have to face some stiff competition if he wants to capture Meredith’s attention. The other one after Meredith’s heart, star neurosurgeon Dr. Derek Shepherd, AKA “Dr. McDreamy,” is known to be quite the ladies man.

Challenge… dealing with the stress of being a doctor. George has to make life-and-death decisions on a daily basis. He’s already having a difficult time making decisions in his professional life, and he doesn’t need the added stress of managing his personal life. In his words, “Even the best of us make rash decisions…Decisions we pretty much know we’re gonna regret the moment, the minute—especially the morning after.”

Personality… kind, caring, and driven. Despite the fact that he keeps making mistakes, George believes that he has the strength to become a great surgeon one day.
