Garnet

Grew Up… somewhere far off in space, if you can say she grew up at all. Like all the Gems, Garnet’s real origins are unclear. Where did she come from? Why is she living in Beach City, a small seaside town?

Living… in a temple shaped like a giant woman, on the shores of Beach City, with two other Gems – Amethyst and Pearl – and Steven Universe, a half-Gem kid. The Gems used to live with Steven’s mother, Rose Quartz, but she disappeared when Steven was born.

Profession… Crystal Gem, defender of the world against attacks from monsters. Garnet is a gem, alien being that draw their superpowers from the gems embedded in their bodies. Garnet’s gems, in her hands, allow her to form giant, monster-smashing gloves and see the future. Garnet is the unofficial leader of the Crystal Gems, and comes up with their battle strategies.

Interests… baking and occasionally playing arcade games. Garnet isn’t dedicated to any hobby in particular, but does show an interest in whatever Steven likes.

Relationship Status… unattached. Considering how distant Garnet is, it would be hard to imagine her forming any new relationships. It takes her a long time to open up to anyone.

Challenge… fighting back the monsters that insist on attacking Beach City. Whether those monsters are after the Gems, Steven, Beach City, or the earth itself is a mystery. Garnet also often has to act as a mentor not only to Steven but to her Gem teammates as well.

Personality… reserved but wise and strong. She might not be as intelligent as Pearl, but she’s more likely to keep her head in a dangerous situation. Garnet also rarely loses her temper, and is the most likely to break up fights between Amethyst and Pearl. Still, despite her distant personality, she is often the most willing to go along with Steven’s crazy ideas, and will crack jokes unexpectedly.
