Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew up… under the cruel tutelage of the merciless Thanos. Gamora’s species was annihilated by Thanos when she was just a child, and her parents were killed right in front of her. For unknown reasons, Thanos spared her and took her under his wing as an adopted daughter, training her to be an assassin. She spent her entire childhood training to carry out the mysterious and bloody edicts of the Galaxy’s most powerful villain.
Living… free, for the first time in her life. Gamora has recently decided to betray her “father” Thanos, meaning that she’s the master of her destiny for the first time since her parents were killed. She’s traveling the galaxy, looking for a way to foil the diabolical plans of her former master.
Profession… assassin. Gamora was trained from birth to be one of the deadliest women in the galaxy – she has been genetically and cybernetically enhanced, granting her superhuman strength, reflexes, and toughness. While she’s spent her life taking lives, Gamora is finally ready to use her skills for the greater good.
Interests… revenge and honor. Gamora was made into a living weapon and her entire existence is consumed by violence. Now she’s looking to use that violence against Thanos.
Relationship status… single. Frankly, it’s hard to imagine the independent, fearless, and deadly Gamora falling for anyone. The galaxy is on the line – there are simply more important things to be doing than flirting. Still, she does feel some attraction towards the foolish but charming Peter Quill.
Challenge… getting her revenge on Thanos and preventing him from destroying any more worlds. Gamora was loaned out by Thanos to Ronan the Accuser, an alien fanatic of the Kree Empire who is determined to destroy the planet of Xandar. Unwilling to be complicit in the destruction of an entire planet, Gamora goes rogue and tries to intercept a relic that is key to Thanos’s plans – the “orb,” an ancient artifact currently held by the space-faring rogue Peter Quill. Gamora soon finds herself working with a motley crew of galactic miscreants, racing against time to save Xandar from total destruction.
Personality… serious, focused, and honorable. Gamora is haunted by the atrocities she committed for her adopted father. While she despises Thanos for destroying her people, he is the most powerful being in the galaxy and she’s spent her whole life without the power to meaningfully oppose him. She’s determined to atone for her mistakes, and will do anything to spare the galaxy another genocide.
